Office Chic
I've been shooting with SFA Design team (Santa Barbara and LA based) for a while now and recently we photographed their office up in Santa Barbara. Glow Magazine is about to do a spread on Kara's personal office and I thought it was the perfect time to share some of the other great shots from their space. It's a chic, clean design is accented by unexpected and playful pops of color in perfect spots.
I can totally imagine working in this space!
Cute entry with custom sign
Great meeting space and mood board for client meetings
And with this view! So gorgeous
A sweet and playful kitchen nook. I love this wall paper!
A simple decal on the fogged window brings this hallway the perfect punch

High Gloss Photoshoot: Exclusive Extra Shots
So, I'm loving the new article in High Gloss Magazine with designer Emily Ruddo and I thought I would post a few of the unused shots from my fabulous day in Emily's home. She is fantastic to work with and I feel completely inspired photographing with her, so we always get great shots together!
Here are a few unseen photos of the Living/Dining area and the Master Suite:

We had a slight obsession with the light on this book - I love the way the photo turned out!
After I photographed her home in October, Emily recovered these now pink chairs and they are so perfect in the room. The way she pairs aqua and pink make me so happy.
I loved this side table detail - especially the lucite box - and check out the shoes below…
the wallpaper is gorgeous!
Emily has a lot of her resources posted on her fabulous blog, so check her out if you're digging her style!

High Gloss Article: My work in "print"

I'm so pleased to announce that my photography is featured in this month's High Gloss Magazine! I shot the article for designer and friend, Emily Ruddo, a few months back and am thrilled to see the final product. The entire project was fantastic and you can see even more of Emily's work (and my photography!) on her site. Emily, is a fabulous and talented designer that I met last year and have worked with ever since. She has an amazing eye and I adore her playful, yet elegant use of color and pattern.
Seeing the magazine today has been thrilling and I'm so excited to share it with everyone I know. What's even more fabulous, is that my mentor and business partner, Grey Crawford, has his work featured in the article directly before mine. So, please check out my photos in the HG article on page 55 & let me know your thoughts. What an amazing day! Enjoy!

Oh, it's been a while…let's start small
So, I've been a very bad blogger. To my credit (sort of), I have been traveling an insane amount. And while I have tons of new material to post, I wanted to start small, with some beautiful leaves that I photographed for a Chiropractic office waiting room in Chicago. Yes, random, but oh so pretty. There are tons of shots that will be decorating the halls of the office, but I chose 4 to post that I adore and that are simply leaves. I love that the color green can not be defined as one shade. Have you ever walked into the woods, a park, or a jungle and just been stunned by all the amazing shades of green? I know that I have - and it's mind blowing. Sometimes in the city we tune out nature, and I think it's nice to remember that nature is pretty unbelievable.

Curious about the office I photographed these for? Check them out:
They have the BEST health tips and hilarious newsletters, so definitely sign up for fun random health facts - they seriously make my week. The last one was about the benefits of wine for sexual happiness…pretty fabulous!! I'll make sure to do a post of the final waiting room look once the art is installed, so stay tuned…

Photoshoot: Behind the Scenes
I was recently on a photo shoot with friend and fellow photographer Beth Coller working as her stylist on an interiors shoot. Whenever we had down time I photographed some behind the scenes shots of what really goes on during a shoot day. It's such a different experience to be on the sets that we shoot and later see the actual finished photos in magazines and websites. After being on a shoot I can't help but laugh when I see such perfect, beautiful images, because I remember all the funny little details of the day. Nobody's home is perfect and having the privilege to be behind the scenes is fabulous - we get to see the chaos we create on set + the way people actual live. So, here are some fun shots I took throughout the day to show what we were actually up to! And I love the little orange cat - he followed us all day and wanted to be the star of the shoot. Too cute!
the star of the shoot…he was a total camera hog
the bedroom shot would not have been complete without him...
lights, camera…more lighting…shift the camera - Beth hard at work...
a little left out detail - there's never enough time to light and shoot every perfect detail…here is one of my favorite snapshots of the day - I just love this classic bathing doll - she is too chic to be left behind…

Interiors: Photos and Fencing
Working on a Sunday can actually be fun...especially when you have an entertaining designer like Kris Lajeskie take to fencing with the home owner! The hilarious duo hammed it up and I happened to have my finger on the shutter at the exact second they were messing around. Check them out…Later this week I'll add the final shots that we created down in beautiful Rancho Santa Fe.

Perfecting the Shot: Styling!
Earlier this week blogger Erin from House of Turquoise featured my photographs from shoots I did with fabulous designer Emily Ruddo from Armonia Decors & they looked amazing! Emily loves pairing turquoise with fuchsia and has been getting great reviews for her designs and color palette, not to mention she is so fun to work with!
I was looking through shots from our most recent shoot together and stumbled upon these great shots of Emily styling a living room she designed in LA. The flowers were full and fancy, but placement of the trees and flowers was tricky in this shot. Check out Emily in action, all our placement ideas, and most importantly - the final product! It's so great to see how a few items really change the entire look of the room!
THE FINAL SHOT….STYLED AND SEXY:
Check out the coffee table, flowers, mantle and trees to see where Emily made the most changes….

Western Done Right
I just finished a few photo shoots with designer Kris Lajeskie. Kris is based in Santa Fe and designs in New Mexico, Los Angeles and New York. She created a beautiful home in LA based on the client's love for all things western. There were bronze sculptures of cowboys, classic paintings, and native american art. It was a huge collection that the homeowners clearly loved. And what could have happened was something cheesy, but what Kris created was exceptionally lovely, comfortable and still very stylish.

It's all about the Details...
Ever heard the saying, "the devil's in the details"? Well, in the world of design and photography, everything is in the details. It's the difference between ordinary and interesting. I was on a photo shoot the other day and every table and wall had the perfectly chosen chachkis mixed with high end art pieces. The mix of high end and affordable is essential in all interiors. Obviously, depending on budget, those price points are different for everyone, but in the end, it's the mix that matters. It's so exciting to see how displaying and placing your favorite knick knacks or sculptures changes a room.
Here are a few snap shots (Unfortunately, I can't post the final photos of this shoot - they will be published some time this year) from my favorite details that day:

The pad of paper on the table on left is made of of artisan paper that the designer had glued to a backing to create an elegant, yet unique pad filled with hand made paper. On the table to the right, I loved the make up brushes stashed in a lovely tray. The homeowners also had personal note pads made with their family logo and home address - so cute!
These entry tables had the most beautiful array of paintings and sculpture pieces in shades of celadon, blues and natural stone that worked so perfectly together.

Mid Century Masterpiece
Hartman Baldwin hired me to take some shots of a mid-century home that they had completely restored and I fell in love with the project. I was amazed at the attention to detail that both the home owner and HB went to in order to keep the home authentic. It truly felt like a time warp walking into the house and I loved prop styling each room since the home owner had carefully shopped for years to complete the look.
Below are a few of my favorite shots from the day. Check out the bowls in the kitchen. Her mother collected them using Betty Crocker points in the 1950s. And the bird wall sculpture in the living room is very similar to one that was used in a scene in Mad Men!

Santa Barbara Gets a Makeover
I showed some photos last week of a house that I was shooting two days later that needed EVERYTHING done to it & today is reveal day! The shots turned out beautifully and thanks to a crew of movers and a lot of great help, I was able to create a lived in effect to help show the property. After decorating, styling and shooting it only 48 hours later, I was exhausted, but so thrilled with the outcome!
Check out the before and after shots:

New Website
I'm finally creating a new website to be proud of and I wanted to share a sneak preview of a few shots of the work I'll be updating my site with. This year has been profoundly intense for me and I feel lucky to be working with all of my new clients. I adore everyone's style that I worked with this year, but wanted to post a few stand outs on this special eve. I hope you are spending the day with loved ones and enjoying some egg nog!
