I recently photographed my best friend's little sister's wedding in our hometown. Her parents created the most beautiful ceremony in their back yard and my great friend Jaymi and I photographed it together. And we had so much fun we created an event site that day - MegJay Photography - we were a dynamic duo! Here are a few shots of the flowers and the happy couple - more to come!

Frazier Park: The little ranch wedding
This wedding seriously stole my heart. It's exactly the kind of wedding that makes you think, "and why does everyone spend so much money??". Not that a blowout bash isn't fantastic, but it's great to see people go against the grain and plan a wedding with a DIY attitude. I posted earlier last week about helping my mom do the flowers, but wanted to show a few more photos of the reception and all the fun we had!
the cake was the only thing they bought for the reception - everything else was homemade!
Loved her blue frosting:)
Normally a frosting smash is not my thing, but they made it look cute…
the guests had fun with the extra flowers lying around….
the bride's father helped set up a photo booth on her Mac and they put out ample costumes for us to clown around in…it may have been my favorite part of the wedding - we took about 100…for real
I loved the flags they made to mark the ceremony - so happy and fun
the back of the ranch….the end of a beautiful day
And at the end of the day we all pitched in to help recycle, compost and toss the trash…
it was a true backyard bash

Flowers in Frazier Park
As my mom and I pulled off the 5 Freeway, we found ourselves in a town that I have often passed on my way to SF and wondered, "who the hell lives here??". With a Prius full of flowers, three sets of sheers and more than enough ribbon, tulle, and pins for an ballerina stampede, we headed into the desert unsure of where we were going to find ourselves. The ranch where we ended up was spectacular. Heather, my mom's friend who is also an artist, was marrying her long time sweet heart on her parent's ranch. My sweet mom volunteered to do all the flowers to keep costs low. Now, it's important to know that my mom is not a florist. And while I style flowers on photo shoots, a wedding bouquet and centerpieces are a totally different story. To keep in line with the DIY theme and ranch feel, Heather's family had been collecting jars all year to use as centerpieces. The different colored glass in various sizes looked amazing with the wildflower bouquets. They added the perfect amount of color and happiness to the desert on a fabulous day. So while we didn't come entirely prepared for how much work we were taking on, with the help of a few innocent bystanders and a lot of running around, we definitely added to the transformation of the ranch. Congrats D + H!!
